The Prancing Horse Gallops to victory!
Jenson Button got off to a flying start by nudging ahead of Fernando Alonso into the lead. Lap One also saw some great dueling for the second spot. Lewis Hamilton was unfortunate as he crashed out on the opening lap due to steering problems. Damage on the opening lap on Adrian Sutil's car saw him take his first pit stop on lap three. We also got a glimpse of Schumi's old self as he raced up three places. Lap fourteen saw Senna and Kobiyashi both, retiring. Engine Problems for Sebastian Vettel started early in the race and hence by lap twenty two he was overtaken by his team mate Mark Webber. By lap twenty five it was clear that it was going to be a three horse race between Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. Some problems in the pit lane meant that no car was able to take a pit stop till lap thirty. Soon we saw a flood of drivers coming into the pit lane with Force India driver Vitantonio Liuzzi coming in at lap thirty two.Nico Rosberg and Mark Webber followed suit at lap thirty six. Jenson Button entered the pit lane at lap thirty seven and hence slipped down to third place. The two Ferraris lead the race for a single lap with Fernando Alonso taking a pit stop at lap thirty eight. This strategy turned out to be a highly successful one for Scuderia Ferrari as Fernando Alonso managed to come out in front of Jenson Button and thus taking the lead. The other Ferrari came into the pits on lap thirty nine and managed to come out on the track just in time to grab the third position in the race. Lap forty nine saw Italian homeboy Jarno Trulli retire with a blown gearbox. We saw a great dogfight between Webber and Hulkenberg for the sixth spot. The Australian with his better car came out victorious with a great overtaking maneuver on lap forty nine itself. Sebastian Vettel took his first stop just before the last lap of the race. His stop was successful as he did not lose a single position coming out on the track back into 4th place. In the end, Fernando Alonso clinched to the pole in a twisty way, celebrating his return in the 2010 season at the driver's championship and Ferrari's victory after five years when Michael Schumacher announced his retirement. Jenson Button finished second 2.9 seconds after the two time world champion while Felipe Massa grabbed the last podium position 1.3 seconds behind Jenson Button.
